Housing Committee Meeting

Present: Josh Scott, Bill Randol, Zelda Gamson, Thaw Malin, Jim Feiner, John Abrams and Deborah Cini.
Thaw Malin is the acting chair in Steve Schwab's stead for this meeting. Steve Schwab is currently on vacation.
The minutes from April 27, 2005 were approved.
At the request of the committee, South Mountain Company prepared two variations on the Plan for Middle Line Rd. mixing rental and home ownership units. One showed two triplex units and one showed three duplexes. After an exhaustive review the committee moved to approve the duplex variation as the plan for the STM, to be presented at the public hearing on May 24. South Mountain Company will provide full size maps for the Library and the Town Hall.
The committee also discussed the financial plan for building 12 rental units. The shortfall in income for doing this totaled $489, 350. There would also be additional long-term management and maintenance compared to the six rentals/six Homesite plan.
The proposed articles for STM were reviewed and discussed. The committee chose to write a letter to the Board of Selectmen asking them to eliminate several of the draft articles for the STM warrant.
Thaw read Tim Carroll's memo into the minutes. The letter stated that the hiring of a permanent administrative assistant for the Housing Committee, Planning Board, Conservations Commission, ZBA, and Site Review is to be postponed until after STM.
